10 days left...

10 Days Left in Hawaii...

We don't want to admit it to anyone, especially to ourselves, but have made a really difficult decision to move from our home in Hawaii. Sadly its time to move on with our lives and hope for awesome and amazing things that will surely come in the future. We both hate big dramatic goodbyes and we wanted to slink off without anyone noticing, but when you're trying to sell all of your belongings and both cars, and get out of a housing contract, duh, its kind of obvious what is going on: a move is in the works.

It isn't any one big event or occurrence that has led us to this decision, it just feels like 100 different things that all point away from paradise. Hawaii just doesn't have the educational or occupational opportunities that Daren needs to make his Pharmacy degree happen, and in four short months our family will be a family of three instead of two. We'll try to be positive and tell ourselves our plans are just too big for this tiny island that we love so much.

We are so grateful that we have been able live and experience all of the amazing, awesome, beautiful, weird, interesting, addicting, and yes sometimes annoying things about this island. Here are some things that Hawaii gave us that nothing else could...

1. Ten years ago Daren first came as a BYUH student and played for the Water Polo team.
2. Daren met friends and other people here that influenced him to serve his mission in Guatemala.
3. Daren came back to school at BYUH after his mission and got his Bachelors degree in International Business Management.
4. Daren got to have a killer college experience and have more fun than any other college student in the world, maybe a little too much fun ha ha.
5. Daren got to surf his brains out year after year on North Shore and east side oahu at some of the best surf spots in the world.
6. I came to BYUH 5 years ago and had an amazing summer that would change my life forever.
7. I spent never ending amounts of hours laying out and playing on tropical island beaches like Sunset, Waimea, Waikiki, and of course good ole Hukilau and Temple beach ha ha.
8. I learned how to surf here, and got my first board here.
9. Daren & I dated in paradise, so exciting and romantic! ha ha our dates were things like walking on the beach, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and watching beautiful Hawaii sunsets.
10. Daren & I got married in the Laie, Hawaii Temple.
11. We got to live here being married for 2 1/2 years and keep doing all of the island things we love together.
12. We found out we were expecting a baby here!
13. I got a degree in Social Science Education with a minor in art.
14. I got to student teach some crazy Hawaiian middle school kids that I love.
15. Daren had certain experiences that helped him decide he wants to become a Pharmacist.
16. Being able to look at tourist and say to yourself "they have to go home in a few days, and I live here, I don't ever have to leave."
17. Meeting and making friends with people from all over the world, and learning just how different and amazing the people of this world are.
18. Making things like, musubis, manapua, poke, teri beef, mochi, pineapple, mango, and papaya a part of your daily food intake.
19. Wearing slippahs, boardshorts, and tanktops, all day everyday.
20. An amazing tan all year long.
21. Living in summer all year long.
22. Running on the beach anytime you want.

The list goes on and on...
But overall its has been absolutely unforgettable living here,
and what happens to you in Hawaii, you never forget.

So here's to the good things we've experienced in Hawaii
&
Much more good things to come!

But we're not gone yet so there is still ten more days of
Hawaii memory making and amazingness

Let the good times roll

White Christmas

Lets face it
No body wants to have a green Christmas, a hot Christmas, or a Family less Christmas. We almost faced the fact that we were going to be stuck in Hawaii for holidays until my parents came to the rescue. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Well every year you think about what you want for Christmas, so this year I really just wanted to be home (although Hawaii kinda feels like home now) for Christmas with real cold snow, family, and everything that being home or where you grew up brings. Utah really is quite ideal for a fabulous white Christmas and luckily this year I got just what I wished for.

Christmas morning at my parent's house

Lots of presents to open!

Grandpa's Christmas Eve Birthday

Christmas Eve at the Allsop's
Always feels the same every year and that is a beautiful thing!

Daren and cousin Audrey the cutie pie

Christmas for me has to be this exact moment:
Grandma telling her Christmas story, singing carols, being surrounded by family and those who love you, feeling the Christmas spirit to its fullest, and feeling so lucky that you have so much to be thankful for.
....and the anticipation of what Grandma and Grandpa will give us as gifts of course!

Grandma's Christmas Table

Grandma's Tree

Another highlight of the home was that Grandpa took Daren and I up American Fork canyon in his Jeep so that we could breath in some freezing, crisp, and lovely cold winter air.

Me and Grandpa

Me, Grandma, and Lucky the chihuahua snuggled up in his blanket

Enjoy the Forest! Do it Right! ha ha

Daren being a native San Diego boy does not have very much experience in the snow and he was LOVING it. He got so really amazing camera shots while we were up the canyon.
Oh sometimes I really miss the snow, it is so Beautiful!

Tible Fork

Snow Fight!!
Madeline loading up to nail me with a snowball

My hit back at her, I think I may have started it.

Miss or hit? I can't tell.

The fight stopped and Daren and I decided to make a snowman.

Madeline made one too, so we had a girl and boy snow people. We couldn't lift the snowman's middle or head up so Daren had to do it. he he

D thinks he can still wear shorts in 20 degree weather.

Juicy didn't help make the snowmen she just sat and stared at us, more like glare, but I guess she is cute anyway.

Two weeks later my parent's said the snowmen were still alive and anytime they missed us they would just go out and hug the snowman. Ha ha I'm sure they didn't but its cute anyway.

Love visiting Snow!!

Bit of Bad and Good Luck

Ever feeling like you're having a losing streak?
Well you could say we've been having a bit of that as of late. It feels like every time we turn around something happens that we DID NOT see coming. Oh Well
... Ce La Vie ...
Thats life
Here is what has happened lately: good and bad

Daren totaled his precious Nissan Frontier that he got for college graduation, in his words
"2nd most prized possession" next to me. I has been quite blow and he was really bummed about it :( Funny how people can fall in love with a car huh?

But despite such a loss of such a loved truck, Daren miraculously escaped an accident going 4o mph with only a bruised hand and the people in the other car involved were not even scratched in the least. Thank goodness Daren was wearing his seat belt. Wear your seat belt!! Seriously! why would you not? It saved his life.

Not feelin so Hot D?
Poor Daren
Not to mention D also had hip surgery recently, this is him right before going into the operation room ( hes gonna kill me for posting this)
Luckily
Daren has no more pain and is back in surfing shape waiting for a new board from Matty
(matty you can give me advertising compensation now)

Heels!!
something that will always make a girl smile :)

Other than recently splurging on some shoe therapy I am lucky to be working on getting my teaching certificate. I LOVE the Cooperating teacher I work with at King Intermediate 8th grade U.S. History, and I HATE my last bit of classes but oh well its unavoidable.

It is so easy to complain isn't it? it just comes out like word vomit (mean girls reference ha ha)
Instead we need to
stop complaining and be stoked about the good things that we have in life
I mean despite the surgery and accident and other things that bring us down, we do live in Hawaii, and for the most part good things are happening, and we do have each other and that is the best thing we could ever ask for.
Love you D.

Oh yeah, and Daren found another truck to love and baby almost as much as he loves and babies me.
And we have left over insurance money from the wreck to use at our own liberty, so i guess
good things sometimes come in disguise

Sister in Hawaii

Well....a very fabulous thing happened last semester..
My sis came to Hawaii!
I couldn't be more stoked to have her here, we talk and see each other almost every day, she eats my food, I eat her food, we go to the beach of course, she listens to me complain, I give her advice, we swap clothes and accessories, we drive around for hours together in my car, we take midnight seven eleven runs, we watch movies, we take naps, we go on hikes, we cook together, on and on. he he
Madeline I'm so happy youre here don't ever dare leave, I just simply couldn't handle it.
Love you sis

my bike is your bike

"hells angels" ha ha no madeline its the blue angels

waiks

There just isn't anyone in the world quite like a sister, and for all of you who have a sister, you know exactly what I mean.
To the moments when we stop and realize this is the only time when we will be able to spend endless hours on end of time together without babies, or families, or interruption of any kind.

Love you Grandma

Barbara Joan Williams Shelton

I never met her, she died before I was born.
She is such a beauty isn't she?
I don't know much about her but I do know a bit

She was such a diva
She always had great hair
She loved big sunglasses
She loved planning and hosting parties
She always wanted to make events big and fun for everyone
and thats about it...sad I know, I should find out more!

Love you Grandma can't wait to meet you someday...
